My classroom is a mess, they are about to put another coat of wax on the floors, my craft room at home is a nightmare, and I've only got a week and a half left before I go back to work, but at least I've got things in the works, right?
As I've mentioned before, I am very fortunate in that my science classroom is very large with extremely high ceilings. It never really feels crowded and I have a ton of stuff in there (I have a knack for finding creative ways to hide/disguise things.)
My walls are a beautiful green color and I've never really had a "decor". My poor room has been organized, but never really decorated. Until this year....
I decided to add pops of zebra print all around the room. This desk organizer has always had the ugliest, particle board back side. So, I ran down to Wal-Mart and bought a yard of fabric and some ribbon. I thought about getting out the sewing machine, but to be honest I was way too eager to get it up and feeling very lazy. So, I roughly cut out the fabric and glued it down with a glue gun. To cover up the rough edges, I glued the ribbon around the edges. Don't you think it turned out great? (You can also see the cute lamp in the background! I only use this when I need to do work at my desk and the lights are out for a video or PowerPoint.)
My agenda board is completed...whew! Notice the zebra bows.
I also found some cute zebra curtain valances that I am working on, but I'll need a super tall ladder to install those puppies. (No pics yet...sorry.) But, they were less than $5 each Wal-Mart. Can't beat that.

I also found this at Wal-Mart. The chair cushions were about $10 each and the carpet was about $19. You would be amazed at how eager the 8th graders are to have a special seat for the day! Who woulda thought!?!?! Last year I brought a large exercise ball to class for a demonstration and I ended up leaving it in my classroom because even the most disengaged students were willing to do just about anything to earn the privilege to sit in it at their desk for the class period. It was a huge incentive. So I thought something like this may turn out to be as successful, even though you probably wouldn't see it in your typical science classroom.
